Fiesta Fundraiser Success: GLXi Thanks You!

The Fiesta fundraiser was a huge success! We are so grateful to everyone who attended, contributed, volunteered, and otherwise made this fundraiser the big hit that it was.

Held Sept. 15 at the Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles, we welcomed friends old and new as we kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month with this afternoon of camaraderie and support for a good cause.

Our fundraising and attendance tallies exceeded expectations, and all proceeds will go directly to Global Learning Exchange Initiative's efforts to broaden access to literacy and education in Guatemala.

That’s enough on its own to feel good about, but we also had a lot of fun!

Gipsy Social provided Latin rhythms and many of us tried Salsa dancing for the first time, thanks to lessons from Mauricio Villanueva, a performing artist, professional Salsa dancer, and instructor.

And most importantly, we were able to reflect on our work as an organization to build teacher capacity and achieve literacy for primary school children in Guatemala.

What a wonderful afternoon it was! Check out some photos below from the event.
