GLXi Recognized as Accredited by Ministry of Education in Guatemala

Obtaining accreditation from the Ministry of Education is a milestone of immense significance for our programs. This recognition not only validates the quality and effectiveness of the work we do but also strengthens our credibility within educational communities. It provides us with the opportunity to further support teachers and students, particularly in underserved areas, by ensuring that our programs align with national educational standards and objectives. Accreditation also paves the way for program sustainability and expansion, allowing us to make a lasting impact on literacy, education, and community development in Guatemala. Ultimately, it reinforces our mission to empower children and their communities through the transformative power of reading and writing.

It’s official – Global Learning Exchange (GLXiⓇ) is now accredited by the Ministry of Education in Guatemala!

Last week, the General Directorate of Accreditation and Certification (DIGEACE) of the Ministry of Education of Guatemala held an official ceremony to celebrate this milestone.

GLXi, along with other approved organizations, gathered to celebrate and reflect on what has been achieved.

The event took place at the Ministry of Education’s central offices in Zone 10, Guatemala City.

“Obtaining accreditation from the Ministry of Education is a milestone of immense significance for our programs,” said Jaime Vielman, GLXi’s Executive Director – Guatemala. “This recognition not only validates the quality and effectiveness of the work we do, but also strengthens our credibility within educational communities.”

DIGEACE was created by Government Agreement No. 225-2008 in September 2008 to address and improve educational quality in public schools. DIGEACE is the branch of the Ministry responsible for officially accrediting and certifying institutional and individual educational processes to further this goal.

For GLXi, being recognized as an accredited organization is crucial for three reasons:

1. It highlights the value of our programs within educational communities and enhances our visibility as an organization.

2. It confirms the impact of our programs at both national and departmental levels, supporting teacher training and improving comprehension, linguistic, and reading skills.

3. It ensures the sustainability of our programs in the coming years, emphasizing their necessity and generational impact.

These three factors will enhance and increase GLXi's impact in Guatemala, supporting the critical role of reading and writing in the educational, social, cultural, and economic processes of the country’s most disadvantaged populations.

On a day-to-day level, this will help improve collaboration with educational and local authorities, and will help increase interest and participation in our program.

“It provides us with the opportunity to further support teachers and students, particularly in underserved areas, by ensuring that our programs align with national educational standards and objectives,” Vielman said. “Accreditation also paves the way for program sustainability and expansion, allowing us to make a lasting impact on literacy, education, and community development in Guatemala.”

“Ultimately,” he added, “it reinforces our mission to empower children and their communities through the transformative power of reading and writing.”
