Fiesta Planning Committee member Sue Clifford made some amazing centerpieces for our Fiesta and we couldn’t wait to share them.

Known as “end-of-year-vacation” or Christmas vacation – even though it lasts from Nov. 30 to Feb. 15 – this is a time of advancement for students, as they prepare to move on to the next grade, while also holding on to precious memories and all that they learned in their current classrooms.

The celebration of Independence Day in Guatemala is a big deal, involving a range of activities and events that gain involvement from entire communities.

Learning corners have been a staple of the Guatemalan educational system for quite some time, but classrooms often lack the resources to properly stock these spaces. GLXi teachers say they are grateful to have the tools and resources needed to make the learning corners fun and robust for their students.

GLXi has launched an ambitious pilot program aimed at expanding its reach to younger, pre-primary students

On average, 70 GLXi teachers have been regularly participating in monthly workshops, either in live classes or through recorded workshops.

This year, GLXi delivered technology kits to 45 teachers,  22 schools and 1,503 students in Guatemala

Student Assessments, which measure reading ability at the start and end of the school year, will be used to optimize GLXi’s Open Books, Open Minds program.

In January 2023, teachers who graduated from the GLXi Open Books, Open Minds (OBOM) program began participating in teaching workshops as part of the Open Minds in Action Center.
